About

A boxing gym built for beginners

Toula Boxing & Fitness Club sits at 1856 West Chicago Avenue. It is a working boxing gym where first-timers are the point, not the exception.

Toula is where you learn boxing the right way, from the ground up. We keep it creative, we keep it honest, and we keep each other accountable. Five values run through every class:

  • 01

    Beginner friendly

Never thrown a punch? Perfect. Everyone starts with stance, guard and footwork, and nobody gets thrown in over their head.

  • 02

    Creative

Coaching that adapts. Combinations, drills and workouts built around how you move, not a copy-paste routine.

  • 03

    Grit

Hard rounds, honest effort. You leave tougher than you came in, one session at a time.

  • 04

    Accountability

Coaches who know your name and notice when you miss a week. Showing up is the whole program.

  • 05

    Community

A room full of people pushing each other. Strangers on day one, training partners by week three.

The room

Who trains here

Beginners who want to learn to box. People who want conditioning that came from a sport instead of a spreadsheet. Kids from the neighborhood. Competitive athletes working on speed and change of direction. The coaching adjusts to the person in front of it.

Community

This is bigger than boxing

Programming the gym runs for West Town and the wider city.

Youth outreach
Open doors for neighborhood kids who need somewhere to put their energy.
Women's empowerment events
Sessions and gatherings built around women learning to hit back, literally and otherwise.
Anti-violence programs
Structured programming that puts conflict inside the ropes instead of out on the street.
Mentorship talks
The coaching staff speaking directly to the people who need to hear it.
School partnerships
Working with Chicago schools to bring the gym's programming to students.
